Homestead Readers

Give your child the tools to become a confident, capable reader

Homestead Readers are rooted in science-backed reading instruction and a structured, step-by-step approach. These phonics-based books help children build strong reading skills. Unlike many early reading books, Homestead Readers progress through well thought-out phonics steps to give the student mastery of one skill before moving on to another skill.

Homestead Readers Level 1

Homestead Readers were created by a homeschool graduate turned homeschool mother. They are grounded in real life—making them not only educational, but also meaningful and highly relatable.

Why homeschool families love Homestead Readers:

•    Open-and-go format—no prep required
•    Wholesome themes that promote teamwork, responsibility, generosity,
and strong character.
•    True-to-life stories featuring homeschool children in Saskatchewan as
they explore farm life, outdoor adventures, and family projects. Each
book is illustrated with real photos, helping young readers connect with
the characters and setting.

Each book includes:
•    Decodable text carefully aligned with popular phonics programs such as
All About Reading, Logic of English, Abeka, CLE, and Bob Jones. A
helpful chart (available in the sample pages) shows exactly when each
title fits into your chosen program.
•    Clear, guided instructions for parents at every step, making teaching
simple and stress-free.
•    Engaging content that is sure to grab the attention of boys and girls,
farm kids and city kids. Catch your child’s attention with stories
about tractors, combines, horses, dogs, cats, and all kinds of outdoor
adventures.
•    Over 80 free printable activity pages and comprehension questions
available at homesteadreaders.com. These printables reinforce reading
skills and help parents assess comprehension before moving on.
Homestead Reader Level 9 Stories

Each reader has either four or five stories. The new skill for each story is explained at the beginning of the story so the adult is prepared to help their student learn the new reading skill if they don’t already know it.

At the beginning of each story you will find a word list.  This list includes words that have not yet been introduced in this book.  Practicing this list of words before reading the story will help the child progress through the story more smoothly and feel more successful. Some stories will also contain additional clear instructions on the word list page to help an adult guide a student through learning this new skill.
