StyleWriter Teaches How to Write

StyleWriter teaches “writing” for students at all grade levels from Grades 3 and above, with downloadable video courses and lesson books that do the teaching for you. Marking is done with the included  checklists.

StyleWrite provides downloadable video writing courses, workbooks, and programs from Bev and Bryan Rempel. It was created for home schoolers, those who are now schooling at home, and for teachers in the public and private school systems. StyleWriter teaches “writing” for students at all grade levels from Grades 3 and above, with downloadable video courses and lesson books that do the teaching for you. Marking is done with the included checklists.

StyleWrite Courses

All Things Canada is a lower elementary (grade3-4) level course that takes students through the units of Dr. Webster’s Blended Structure and Style method of teaching writing. It applies those methods to subject areas commonly found to be of interest to younger students. The reading level of this course as set at the grade 3 level for ease of starting even very young students with a Blended Structure and Style writing program. Students will integrate all the structural models and stylistic techniques necessary to develop their creative and academic writing skills. All Things Canada includes:
  • 21 video lessons covering almost seven hours of instruction.
  • 149 page downloadable textbook which includes all the models, charts and checklists necessary to mark and complete the course.
  • Additional videos that bring the content to life for the student.
Recommended Ages: Grades 3 & 4
Basic Grammar for All Writers addresses the most common grammar errors observed in students taking online courses from Webster’s Academy, typically at the grades 6 and above levels. Corinne Plett is the instructor for this course, one  of the favourites of the students at Webster’s. She has extensive experience teaching online, and has developed many advanced courses in Essay Writing for senior level students. Basic Grammar for All Writers includes:
  • 80 Minutes of teaching on four pre-recorded streaming video lesson presentations.
  • A downloadable 115 page text with class lessons, exercises, assignments and answer keys.
Recommended Ages: Grades 6+
Basic Grammar for Young Writers addresses the most common grammar errors observed in students taking online courses from Webster’s Academy, typically at the elementary grades below grade 6. Canada: Neighbours with a Difference is an intermediate level course that takes students through all nine units of Dr. Webster’s Blended Structure and Style method of teaching writing. It applies those methods to subject areas commonly found in Grades 6-9 Canadian Social Studies. These include Canadian government, democracy, multi-culturalism, bi-lingualism and differences between Canada’s form of government and that of our neighbours to the south. Students will integrate all the structural models and stylistic techniques necessary to build an essay and ultimately build a compare and contrast super-essay. Canada Neighbours with a Difference includes:
  • 21 video lessons covering over eight hours of instruction.
  • 186 page downloadable textbook which includes all the models, charts and checklists necessary to mark and complete the course.
Recommended Ages: Grades 6 to 9
English Diploma Prep Course contains a solid eight hours of teaching taking the student through an in depth analysis of what exam markers are looking for and how to deliver it to them. Being well prepared for what to expect and how to pre-strategize writing an English Diploma exam will give a valuable edge. The techniques taught in this course will prepare all Senior level students in any province in Canada to write their respective English exams. The course includes downloads of the instructor’s presentation with each lesson. Scope & Sequence of the Course:

  • Week 2 – The Basic Essay Model
  • Week 3 – The Alberta Diploma Marker’s Scoring Rubric
  • Week 4 – Personal Response – Writing From Prompts

  • Week 6 – Critical or Analytical Response to Texts
Recommended Ages: Grades 11 & 12
Enhanced Creative Writing is an advanced level course designed for middle and high school students, who want to expand their repertoire of skills, with in-depth instruction on structural models designed to enhance their creative writing. By the end of this course students will expand their writing to that of anecdotal compositions. Following the structural models taught literally “forces” creativity. These structural and stylistic tools empower students even when required to write creatively “on demand”. Structural models covered in this course include:
  • How to include “flashback” paragraphs
  • How to properly write and punctuate dialogue
  • How to include triple extensions and the five senses
  • How to include similes/ metaphors,
  • How to write using the 5 W’s
  • How to include “personification”
  • How to effectively include “allusions”
  • How to incorporate creative devices like foreshadowing, irony and sarcasm.
  • How to write “allegory” and use “allegorical” references.
  • How to add poetry and poetic devices into your creative writing.
Recommended Ages: Grades 6+
History of Canada takes students through all nine units of Dr. Webster’s Blended Structure and Style method of teaching writing. It applies those methods to subject areas commonly found in Grade 5 Canadian Social Studies where the history of Canada is typically taught across Canada in public schools. Students will integrate all the structural models and stylistic techniques necessary to develop their creative and academic writing skills. History of Canada includes:
  • 20 video lessons covering almost eight hours of instruction.
  • 147 page downloadable textbook which includes all the models, charts and checklists necessary to mark and complete the course.

Recommended Ages: Grades 5 & 6
How to Write Excellent Essays is a concise guide and full blown course teaching how to write a variety of essays. Paying particular attention to the structure of each type of essay, you will be taught skills that you will carry with you for a lifetime. The first part of the course covers the ADVANCE formula for writing essays created by Bryan Rempel. The course explores models of these various essays and add other stylistic techniques to really make your writing pop. How to Write Excellent Essays includes:

  • Access to over six hours of teaching as it was presented to a live online class.
